I went to HISPALIS yet again on my vacations. The guys in charge of cleaning really do a terrific job, always cleaning.I do not really care about staff attitude either nice or rude in any sauna in any country but like always there are a few nice ones in this establishment, main action in the maze that's why, one ,is always wet , there are cabins but they are not the main place of play and is true what the prior comment mentioned if you are european looking or american you have a lot more chances to hook up and pick your choice I go there but very seldom hook up, there are handsome guys and really ugly ones like anywhere else;most of the time I don't hook up(even though in the STATES I am consider a hottie) because I do not like dark places like the steam maze where you cannot really see who is who ,besides I don't like to get f****d standing up in a steamy place ,too unconfortable. I LIKE PRIVATE CABINS so I do like the locals do ,walk around and have a few drinks at the bar(kill time since I am on vacations my main activieties are at night so for me is an excellent place to kill time) but that's allright with me when I go back to the STATES I go to my favorite bathhouse STEAMWORKS which is full of eye candy and I get several of them in one night with no problem at all whatsoever.HAVE FUN

This is truly a great place. Especially if you are European looking and around 20-35, you can have soo much fun with the local guys. It's amazing how much these good looking Costa Rican guys like to play. Not always safe though. Best time for me was after 6 p.m.

I went back to this sauna nothing new except that the bar is bigger, you can purchase alcoholic beverages at the bar. The entrance cost about $8 .They don't give you a bath towel just a piece of rectangular cloth that you wrap around and at the end of your visit they give you the bath towel so you can dry.; young crowd in their 20"s ,older guys too ,if you like hispanics by all means go to HISPALIS, friendly staff , foreigners here and there it seems to me that they are very well liked by the natives ,lots of rooms but basically they like to do the nasty in a maze which is the most popular part of the sauna; very clean .They seem to know each other probably because is a small country, so if you are a regular my bet is that you get to know most of everybody not like in EUROPE or the STATES where you don't see the same people everytime you go to the club.Personally I prefer the bath houses in the STATES or EUROPE you rent your room ,video inside and lots of hot guys in all sort of scenes.If you are on vacation in COSTA RICA ,gay , horny go to HISPALIS more than likely you'll have fun more than one time if that is your choice and the crowd not just young ,all ages ; to my taste very few hotties but that's in the eye of the beholder.

It´s a great place, maybe the best place in this dirty city San Jose. We have been 7 days in this town and six afternoons in this spa. In the afternoons are mostly older people 50 and up in the spa looking for younger gays. Round abot at 5/6 p.m. the people are changing to the age of 20 to 45.
The spa ist clean, the staff very friendly (exspecialy JOSE behind the bar - he is not gay), the drinks cheap and the food good. There is a big cruising steam labyrinth it´s full of fun possibilities. A lot of free cabinets are around. A big jacuzzi and a dry sauna - with a special 2nd dark room. Pay attention on Wednesday - it is nacked day (without towels).You do not need to speak spanish to hook up. Our comment: If you are gay and in San Jose you MUST visit this location. HAVE FUN.

I went to HISPALIS this year and I noticed that they made the bar bigger and in a certain area bigger rooms; nice sauna as always ,mixed age crowd, good looking guys(some of them)the action is in the maze, like in any sauna around the world ,the walk and walk is the rigour.Some of the foreigners and locals stay glue to the walls waiting who knows for what .An advice to tourists you do not need to speak spanish to hook up ,fun is a universal language but as always I prefer the action in Europe or the USA

Loved it. Hard to find since San Jose doesn;t seem to have steet signs. IT looks like it is a regular house so I wasted lots of time looking. No sign or gay flag. The wall of the National Museum is on the opposite side of the street. I went on a Tuesdy afternoon. Lots of men. Large labyrinth. Free rooms.

hi! It was a great sauna, nice and new and clean, and full of incredibly hot guys. But truthfully, I find men in san jose a bit snooty. better fun to be had at the sauna in san salvador.

Just returned from San Jose and had a great time both times I visited Hispalis. It is rather difficult to find tho as in San Jose there are no published street addresses. It's located on Avenida 2 just east of the National Museum on the South side of the street...look for the # 1762 painted above the door...there is no sign of any kind...Wednesdays are great..everyone is naked, friendly and playful...many types but over all I found it to be a bit younger than the crowds we get at the saunas in the US and the presence of a full bar and some food in their cafe is nice.
